New water tanks
THE RIGHT TANK, SIZED TO YOUR ROOF AND YOUR RAINFALL
We sell tanks, but we repair them for a living. That is why we size them honestly.
Short answer
What is involved in installing a new water tank?
Sizing to your roof catchment and local rainfall, preparing a level compacted base, delivering and erecting the tank, then connecting inlet, outlet and overflow. Base preparation is the part most often underestimated. A tank on a poor base will move, and a moving tank leaks.
The work
What we do, and why
When a new tank is the right call
Repair is usually cheaper than replacement, and we will say so when it is. A new tank makes sense when: - The wall sheets are corroded through in several places - A concrete shell has structural cracking that banding cannot hold - The tank is too small for the demand and always has been - The tank is in the wrong place, with too little catchment feeding it - You are consolidating several old tanks into one
If the shell is sound and only the liner or roof has failed, repair it. We would rather line your tank this year than sell you a tank you did not need.
How the tank is specified
Size comes from three numbers: your roof catchment area in square metres, your local annual rainfall, and how much water you actually use. Multiply catchment by rainfall to get what you can collect in a year, then size the tank to bridge your longest dry stretch rather than to hold the whole year.
We also look at the site: ground conditions, truck access, distance from the catchment, and where the overflow can safely discharge. A tank you cannot get a delivery truck to is a tank that costs more to install.
We are an authorised agent for Rhino and Heritage tanks and we supply Kingspan tanks. Brand choice follows the site and the water use, not the other way around.
How the install is done
The pad is set out, levelled and compacted. For steel tanks we screed a clean sand base free of stones, because anything under the liner eventually prints through it.
The tank is delivered and erected on the pad. Liner, roof, hatch, vent and insect mesh are fitted. Inlet, outlet and overflow connections are made and sealed. First fill is checked before we leave.
Where an old tank is being replaced, we remove it on the same visit. One mobilisation, one site clean up.
What it costs
The tank itself is priced by the manufacturer and varies by capacity and brand. Our cost is base preparation, delivery, erection and plumbing, and these are quoted separately so you can see what is tank and what is labour.
Indicative ranges are below. Every job is quoted firm after a site visit, because base preparation is what moves the number most.
How long it takes
Lead time is usually set by the manufacturer, not by us. Allow a few weeks from order for delivery on common sizes, longer for large or non standard tanks.
On site, base preparation is a day, and erection and connection is one to two days for most rural tanks. We give you both dates when you accept the quote.
What warranty applies
The tank carries the manufacturer warranty, which is the substantial one, and the terms come from the maker. Our base preparation, erection and plumbing carry our workmanship warranty.
Both are written on the quote before you accept. Manufacturer warranties usually depend on the tank being installed on a compliant base, which is another reason we do not cut corners on the pad.

BRANDS WE REPAIR
and every other steel tank on the market
We repair and re-line steel water tanks from every major Australian brand, plus concrete tanks of any make. The liner is cut to your tank, so the brand on the wall does not limit the repair. Ask about steel tank liners for any of these brands, or about new water tanks if the shell is past repair.

ASKED BEFORE EVERY INSTALL
Still stuck? Call 0499 142 149.
Repair, if the shell is sound and only the liner or roof has failed. Replace when the wall itself is gone. We will tell you which, in writing, before you spend anything.
It depends on your roof catchment, your rainfall and your use. Our sizing guide walks through the arithmetic, or send us your roof area and we will do it with you.
Yes, and we recommend it. Most manufacturer warranties depend on the tank sitting on a compliant, level, compacted base.
Yes. Doing the removal and the install on the same visit saves you a second mobilisation charge.
